The Ombudsman

What is a Ombudsman?
The Ombudsman is a specialist of human resources and is independent of other administrative structures or persons in authority at the Institute. As such, he is free of conflict of interest and is able to exercise his function in complete impartiality. The Ombudsman does not belong to senior management and is not an IRCM executive. The Ombudsman has a duty to act impartially, independently and confidentially.

Role of the Ombudsman at IRCM

The Ombudsman’s mandate is to receive intervention requests, as a last resort, from researchers, employees and students of the Institute who consider that the IRCM’s administration or a person in authority has reported a decision on them that appears unfair or inequitable. If so, he may make suggestions, assess the merits of the complaint and, if necessary, will conduct an investigation, and forward recommendations to the competent authorities.

For a meeting it is suggested to make an appointment.
